Welcome to Hetzel Art
About Us:

A truly inspiring creative space!

In February 2019, we opened our first little studio on 25th Street, sandwiched between an oxygen supply company and a nail salon. We rented the space initially to teach classes and have more room for parties. We ended up having a Grand Opening Art Show. We invited our talented artist friends and the show was HUGE!
No one wanted it to end. That evening, we were asked many times, "When is the next one?" We didn't quite have an answer, but it felt wrong to say, "Well, this was it! No more after this." We talked it over that night and the next morning, and by the following evening, we had a year's worth of show ideas and a mission statement. There was an obvious need in our town for this, and we like to say, "We accidentally fell into this."
We moved to Inman Street in 2020. The location was great and the gallery was beautiful, but after two COVID shutdowns, we just couldn't keep the space. Rather than give up and give in, we rented a moderately priced studio in Spring Place Village and kept up classes and shows. By this time, we'd been through a pandemic, illnesses, divorce, and deaths in the family, all within a few year span.
In 2023, we moved to The Old Woolen Mill as part of Art Is Here Partnership's "ArtHouse Cleveland Incubator" and are working alongside many creatives and with the support of city officials to bring Cleveland's first zoned Arts District.
We've stayed true to our mission statement, and it has remained unchanged since 2019.
